Hilton Head...here we come!

So tomorrow morning we are off to Hilton Head for a week! Ga-Ga (my mom) and my niece, Caroline, are tagging along. It's sure to be a great week of sun, fun and relaxation for all! The last time we went was 5 years ago when Jonah was about Isaac's age. I think it's pretty neat that the same trip we took for Jonah's first vacation will be the same trip we are taking as Isaac's first vacation.

Just for fun I thought I'd share some pictures from that trip 5 years ago.

Be on the look out for pics from this year's trip when I get back!

Learn from my mistake

So last Sunday afternoon when Chad sat down at our computer to check his email, it was dead. Gone. Ka-put. No warning - no crazy weird I-think-our-computer-is-dying signs or anything - just gone. He took it in to Best Buy. Diagnosis: the hard drive is dead - everything is lost. By everything, I mean ..well...everything. The hardest part about that is that we lost a lot of pictures. We JUST got that computer last summer, so I thought time was on my side as far as copying all the pics to disc. Um, yeah, not so much. So, if you're like me, and you keep telling yourself "I've got to get these pictures saved to disc" - JUST DO IT. DO IT NOW! Please...learn from my mistake and save yourself the heartache. We hope to have a new computer up and running sometime next week - then it's off to Hilton Head for a week starting Saturday. So, all this to say I probably won't have any updates until we get home. In the meantime, I suggest you all get busy saving your pictures!! Now go! Do it!

What are you still doing here? You have work to do!!

Child-like faith

So I'm having a rough day. I'm just frustrated with a couple of things and I can't figure out exactly where my "place" is. I received some really good advice from a friend. She told me not to make any decisions right now, while I'm frustrated. She told me to take some time to relax and pray and to remember to seek HIS will for my "place" and not worry about what will make other people happy. While I'm pondering all this, I hear my 5 yr old from the back of the house belting out "Jesus loves me" at the top of his lungs. Not a care in the world...just all that matters. Jesus loves ME...yes, even a wretch like me. "Nuff said.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Happy Mother's Day

It was a GREAT Mother's day. It started off with a wonderful worship service which included Isaac's baby dedication. My mom (Ga-Ga) and Chad's dad (Grandpa) and brother (Uncle Cory) drove up this morning to join us. It was really nice to have them in worship with us. Afterwards we had lunch at the Olive Garden and then they came back to the house to visit for a little while. As usual, in her always-generous manner, Ga-Ga came bearing gifts. A stuffed "Big Bird" for Isaac and a baseball and bat for Jonah. They both loved their gifts, but I think Jonah enjoyed the Big Bird just as much, if not more, than Isaac.

Speaking of gifts, I was surprised quite nicely this morning with a wooden memory box made by Jonah (at Lowe's) and gift cards to Starbucks and JC Penney's. My boys take good care of me! Jonah actually did most of the hammering involved.

I hope all of the mothers out there enjoyed their special day as much as I did!

Mmm...cereal....

So this past week I gave Isaac his first taste of some rice cereal. He didn't have a clue what to do and didn't really seem to enjoy it much. Seeing as how he'd already had some apple juice (previous tummy issues), I decided to give him a little applesauce yesterday. He LOVED it and quickly figured out how to open his mouth when he saw the spoon coming. I think I'll be mixing the cereal and applesauce together for now.

Ok, mom, what's up?

What did you just shove in my mouth?!

Um, sorry mom, my fingers are better than that stuff!

And...just for fun...I found this pic of Jonah's first time having cereal...

Is this thing on??

So, if you're out there reading, would you let me know? I plan to keep the posts and pics coming, but I'd like to know someone's on the other end. Otherwise, it's like typing to air. :-)

Who's that man in the hat over there?

So there's a great song you've probably heard on an AT&T commercial that I just love. The only place I could find it in it's entirety was youtube, thus the video over there on the side. His name is Amos Lee and he does a fine job singing "Sweet Pea."

I love this part:

Sweet pea
What's all this about
Don't get your way all you do is fuss and pout
You're the only reason I keep on coming home

Sounds like someone I know...

Enjoy! (Click on the triangle!)

Adventures with teeth

I didn't plan to have my boys 5 years apart. It just happened that way because the good Lord wanted it to. At any rate, that has left me with one child losing teeth while the other child is getting teeth. Jonah has already lost 2 teeth, which conincidentally were the first two he "got." I think he may have 1 or 2 more that are loose now, but not enough to be on the look out just yet.

Isaac has begun full on teething. My normally sweet and docile baby has become quite vocal about his dislike for the pain and discomfort. Can't say as I blame him - I'm just not used to seeing him that way. There were a few hours on both the last two days that he was pretty much inconsolable. Yuck. He seems more like himself today, but all I can think is...we have to do this 20 times??!! Lord, give me strength. :-) I'll try to post a pic when that first little "toofie" finally makes it's appearance. In the meantime...

Here's my snaggletooth~

My boys

My Jonah

Jonah is my first baby and is now 5 yrs old. He has gorgeous brown eyes, rosy cheeks and a smile that will melt your heart. He can be quite precocious one moment and can have me begging him to "please act like a big boy" the next. His heart is oh-so-sensitive and at times he can have a very short temper. I have no idea where he got that quality. He loves to sing, play with anything remotely resembling a truck, soccer and basketball, movies, books, school and church. He just loves life in general! He'll be starting kindergarten in the fall and he is so excited about his new school. I can't wait to watch him grow as he makes the transition into elementary school.

My Isaac

I sincerely believe that Isaac is the.best.baby.ever! He is the happiest baby I think I've ever seen! Everyone comments on how happy and content he always seems to be. Seriously, unless he's hungry or his tummy hurts, or he's teething (our newest adventure), he always has a smile to give away. This kid is probably going to talk before he crawls. He already mimics our mouths when we say "hey" or "hello" - it's the cutest thing. He loves his swing, taking baths, rolling around on the floor and his newest favorite is his exersaucer!
